WELBECK GROUP SUPPORTS CHARITY KILIMANJARO CLIMB
30 September 2010
Wealth management and financial services provider, Welbeck Group, is providing support to a team of civilians and amputees who will be attempting to reach the summit of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, on 14th October 2010, in aid of amputee charity, Limbpower.
Welbeck Group’s Practice Manager Cathy Booth and Senior Advisor Jim Kelly will actually be part of the team embarking on this daunting challenge and they are being fully supported in their fund raising by Welbeck Group advisors, staff and contacts. Funds raised by the team will, in part, be used to finance the Amputee Games.
According to Cathy Booth, who is also a Patron of Limbpower, “It is going to be tremendously hard and I am a little nervous. But seeing some of the amputees take on the challenge is really inspiring. Limbpower is a charity that is very close to my heart and the support of everyone at Welbeck Group is superb and I’m looking forward to the challenge.” The team of amputees and professionals embarking on the challenge of a lifetime, will push the boundaries and overcome their own personal limitations in order to reach the summit of, ilimanjaro, The Roof of Africa, and raise money to enable new amputees to participate in sport to aid their rehabilitation. The team will be supported by healthcare professionals including prosthetists, a physiotherapist, a doctor and a clinical scientist. The expedition sums up one of the key aims of the LimbPower charity, which is to help amputees and other ambulant disabled people inspire newly disabled people to get back out into the world and see their disability as a challenge, not a barrier to life.
